Pastor Josh is the director of Harvest Bible Institute and a staff pastor at First Church of the Open Bible. Josh has served as a lead pastor, student ministries pastor, and adjunct Bible professor. His most recent role was that of Academic Coordinator of Bible & Theology at Latin American Bible Institute and student ministries pastor at Fortress Church in San Antonio, TX. He has an M.A. in Theological Studies from Southwestern Assemblies of God University. Josh and his wife Zia have 3 kids, Ezra, Titus, and Jude.
Pastor Spencer is the Senior Pastor of First Church of the Open Bible in Des Moines. He received his M.Div. from the University of Northwestern and attended North Central University for his undergrad. Spencer has served in a plethora of church ministries ranging from youth pastor to associate pastor to lead pastor (in Iowa, Colorado, and Minnesota). Spencer has been married to his wife Lisa since 2001 and they have 2 children, Chloe & Josiah, and 2 adopted children, Layla and Liliana.
Pastor Chad serves as an Associate Pastor at Fort Des Moines Open Bible. He earned his undergrad in Eugene, Oregon (New Hope Christian College, George Fox University) and his graduate degree in Tulsa, Oklahoma (Oral Roberts University). Chad is a gifted teacher and adjunct professor for William Penn, Grandview, and DMACC. Chad enjoys reading, fishing, and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Shy-Ann, have two children, Iain and Kayla.
George is a pastor in the Presbyterian Church in America. He currently serves as the Stated Supply Pastor at Christ the Redeemer in Pella, Iowa. He previously served as a church planter in Ames, Iowa, the Assistant Pastor of Redeemer PCA in Des Moines, Iowa and as Pastor-in-Residence at Westkirk Presbyterian in Urbandale, Iowa. He earned his B.A. in English from Auburn University in Alabama and his M.Div. from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. George likes creative writing, baseball, and Auburn football. He and his wife, Abby, have three children.
Wayne has been the pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Des Moines, IA since 2000. Before that, he served as Associate Pastor at Grace Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Indianapolis, IN from 1997-2000. Wayne is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he majored in History and Classical Greek. He received a Master of Arts degree from The Ohio State University in Classical Languages & Literature and a Master of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO. Wayne has been married to Janelle since 1990 and they have three children. Wayne enjoys reading, photography, and walking his dog.
Pastor Dennis Niles is the Lead Pastor of Faith Community Church in Palmer, IA. Before this Dr. Niles served as the president for Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, ND. He received his D.Min. in Leadership from Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. Dennis and his wife, Joan, have two married daughters and four grandchildren.
Dr. Paul Leavenworth is the founder and Executive Director of The Convergence Group. He has a B.S. in Liberal Studies (Oregon State University); a M.A. in Theology (Fuller Theological Seminary); and an Ed.D. in Counseling (the College of William and Mary in Virginia). He currently serves as an adjunct Instructor in Philosophy and Religion at DMACC (undergraduate) and in Organization Leadership at Grand View University (graduate). Dr. Paul has self-published several books and discovery learning workbooks on spiritual formation, discipleship and leadership development. He currently lives in West Des Moines, IA with his wife Leslie, an artist and nurse, and they have three adult children.
Rev. Ken Groen pastored the First Assembly of God in Lexington, Kentucky for 17 years, the First Church of the Open Bible in Des Moines, Iowa for 10 years and was Central Region Executive Director for Open Bible Churches for 13 years. He has a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary. In retirement, he serves in various volunteer capacities including serving as a certified life coach. He and his wife of 51 years, Nadine, live in West Des Moines and have two adult children and 5 grandchildren.
Andy and his wife, Chelsea, moved to Ankeny, IA in 2015 to launch the multi-site location for Des Moines First A/G where they currently serve as Campus Pastors. Previously, they served as world missionaries in Latin America with the Assemblies of God for 9 years and as youth pastors for 2 years. They have three children, enjoy getting away for a date night, travel, or just working on projects around the house. Andy holds a B.A. degree in Missions from Global University and a M.A. degree in Organizational Leadership from Evangel University.
Pastor Steve is the Community Care Pastor at Des Moines First. He is also an adjunct professor at Grand View University and Des Moines Area Community College. Steve is a native of Des Moines. He loves the Midwest and is happy to raise his family here. He enjoys reading, conversations, and exotic foods. Steve is in the process of completing his Ph.D. in Sociology from Iowa State University and also holds degrees from North Central University and Moody Graduate School.
